Why choose VISENDUM® European Engineered Wood over synthetic composites?

There are many reasons why you should use VISENDUM® European Engineered Wood in your projects as opposed to materials such as synthetic composite. Here are a few of them.

First of all, synthetic composite is generally made of minimum 50% plastic, which is more advantageous for the manufacturer, since it is easier to manufacture and much cheaper, hence the price is so low, but… Does the low price mean that the product is durable and resistant? Not really, in the end this type of product ends up being much more expensive over the years, unlike VISENDUM® Technological Wood, which requires no maintenance and has up to 25-year warranty.

What causes the use of 50% or more plastic in the manufacture of synthetic composites?

Manufacturing in this way generates a large number of problems, including high pollution, since, for example, if we are talking about PVC manufacturing, burning this type of product to create the composition of plastic and wood generates a large amount of hydrochloric acid and silane emissions into the atmosphere, with the corresponding consequences for both crop fields and people in general when breathing this type of polluted air.

For example, burning 1 kg of PVC produces high concentrations of dioxins and up to 280 liters of hydrogen chloride gas.

On the other hand, and as for the synthetic composite, making this type of composite with a high percentage of plastic causes a large number of disadvantages. The more plastic the product has, the more static electricity it generates, the hotter the product gets in contact with the sun, the more slippery it is, the greater the contraction and expansion, and the greater the variation in color, since the plastic on the outside gradually loses its original color.

It should be noted that all these disadvantages begin to appear when more than 33% plastic is used in the wood composite.

For all these reasons, synthetic composites generate more disadvantages compared to VISENDUM®’s Technological Wood.
